I am writing to ask for your views about the best way to deliver music services with disabled people within the East Midlands region.
I am particularly interested in using assistive technology to:
• provide opportunities to develop physical, social and emotional skills through music and technology;
• enable disabled people to develop their creative and musical skills, both for leisure and for those who want to find work in the music industry or wider cultural sector;
• train arts and music practitioners, educators and community workers (disabled and non-disabled) who want to work with disabled people.
Arts Council England, East Midlands has awarded me a grant so that I can explore ways of delivering these services in the future and identify a ‘model of good practice’. I am working with freelance arts development consultant Katie Daniels to carry out this study, and strongly believe these services can only be delivered by working in partnership with others. Katie and I would like to invite you to the following meeting so that we can find out about your views and ideas:
• The Learning Room, New Art Exchange, 39-41 Gregory Boulevard, Nottingham, NG7 6BE.
For directions please click here:http://www.thenewartexchange.org.uk/gettinghere_visit.php
• Thursday 26 November 2009
• 10.30am arrivals for 11.00am start
If you would like to attend, please email me back confirming the number of people attending (please feel free to invite anyone who you think may like to attend), their names and the organisation you/they represent.
I really hope you will be able to attend to help me, in effect 'help you'!
With very best wishes,
Shirley Novak
